Mould tools for rotomoulding
Here are some examples of our three types of tooling:
- Sheetmetal fabricated moulds - these moulds are fabricated from sheet steel and are very suitable for large products of simple design.

- Cast aluminium moulds - cast aluminium moulds are made by making a foundry shell over the top of a model of the product. An allowance for shrinkage of the cast alumium has to be made. The model can be made by traditional patternmaking or by using a rapid prototype model whilst finishes can include textures and high gloss finish. If there are multiple moulds required the foundry patterns can be re-used as required.
- CNC machined moulds - these moulds are machined from a solid block of aluminium alloy. No patterns are required and the moulds are very accurate. Excellent surfaces and engraving are easy to include. CNC machined moulds are typicaly about 30% more expensive than cast tooling but perfect for complex products with a lot of features. The moulds can be produced very quickly direct from your 3D CAD files.
