orchid plastics new facility is up and running

our new factory extension (beeching park) is now in production. we have a new rotomoulding machine and robot for the trimming and machining of plastic rotomouldings.

our new moulding machine is very efficient, we have already started moulding our medical bins, tanks and other technical mouldings.

materials currently being moulded include polyethylenes and polypropylenes.

our administrative office is based in the building. the new phone system allows full interoffice capability and includes rod dix working in remote locations (is france still remote ??)

more pictures of the new rotomoulding machine to follow.

borealis withdraw from the roto moulding powder market

borealis have announced that they are pulling out of the rotomoulding powder market because of poor demand and price pressures. this is a major concern for all rotomolders because borealis are a major supplier of technical polymers to the industry.

there are of course other supply options but the loss of one of the leading suppliers is going to limit choice.

we have also seen a further 2 price rises in rotomoulding materials during the last 3 months. the industry speculation is that the prices will top out in april - but who knows.

bob has done his best to secure long term supply contracts but we remain concerned about rising oil prices, currency confidence etc.

new moulding machine arrives at orchid plastics

our new machine has finally arrived in cornwall, we have unpacked the container and built up the machine in just 4 days, we are now waiting for the gas company connection and electrical completion.

we should be testing early next week (early february)

this machine will enable us to offer technical rotational mouldings of high quality from a vareity of popular materials.

the machine has internal cooling which will help to hold dimensional size.
